More details on Spiral Stabilization

Introduction

Spiral Stabilization (aka SpS) is highly effective and works as preventative maintenance. It is an extremely versatile method and it can therefore be used by anyone who wishes to improve their posture, treat back pain, prevent injuries, maintain good health and well-being or improve sports conditioning.

SpS effectively treats spinal disorders and disorders in the main joints. More specifically, it treats:

  • back pain

  • neck pain

  • shoulder and hip pain

  • chronic pain

  • sciatica

  • disc herniation

  • scoliosis

  • lordosis

  • kyphosis

  • headaches

  • migraines

  • flat feet

  • hallux valgus

  • back pain in pregnancy

  • other conditions

It is a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment that achieves lasting results, especially for clients with disc herniation and scoliosis.

The method is suitable for children, adults, the elderly and athletes. Simple exercises can be comfortably performed at home or under the supervision of a therapist.

One on one session

During the one-on-one sessions, we will divide the hour-long session into exercise and additional massage, tailored to your diagnosis. You will be required to perform the prescribed exercise for a maximum of 20 minutes once/twice a day. If you are experiencing pain, we can adjust the time to less than 5/10 minutes, more frequently throughout the day. Upon completion of each session, you will be given an exercise to do at home as your homework. The first session is a 90-minute session to ensure that you understand the exercise correctly.

The cost for this session is $150 plus a one off expense of $65 for an exercise rope. Subsequent sessions will cost $105. Some rebates are available on your private health insurance.

Classes

Beginners

We run a six-week course designed for a maximum of 4 participants to ensure that everyone receives the necessary attention. We can modify any exercise if required. Daily exercise and attending all 6 classes are essential for achieving the best results. The course costs $180, and you will use the elastic rope purchased in the on-on-one sessions, which you will use for your daily exercises at home. The price also includes support throughout the course and short videos with the exercises. In these classes, you learn the fundamentals of Spiral Stabilization, including:

  • Understanding the Basics

  • Gentle Movements

  • Alignment Techniques

  • Personalized Guidance

Unfortunately, we do not offer any rebate

Intermediate

For those ready to deepen their practice and explore more advanced concepts, our intermediate classes offer an opportunity to refine your skills and expand your understanding of Spiral Stabilization. The classes run over 10 weeks and cost $300.  Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Progressive Exercises

  • Core Engagement

  • Dynamic Sequences

  • Mind-Body Connection

Disc herniation

Did you know that a bulging disc can commonly cause back pain? It occurs when the outer layer of an intervertebral disc weakens and extends beyond its normal boundary, putting pressure on nearby nerves and causing symptoms such as pain, numbness, or tingling sensations.

The Spiral Stabilization method stabilizes the body in a spiral manner, creating a supportive muscle corset that, with the assistance of muscle chains, builds upward strength, elongates the spine, and reduces pressure on the intervertebral discs and joints. This facilitates their regeneration and treatment.

Our treatment can lead to the complete absorption of disc herniation (sequestrum) within 3-6 months, or up to a year, depending on the client’s condition. Treatment is quicker and more effective when the exercises are combined with manual therapy techniques.

Spiral Stabilization helps to avoid the necessity for surgery, reduces the likelihood of disc herniation recurrence, and mitigates post-operative complications for clients who have previously undergone back surgery.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a medical condition where the spine is abnormally curved, often in a sideways direction. This condition can affect people of all ages, and its severity can vary widely. Spiral Stabilization focuses on correcting muscle imbalances and creating a muscle corset. Essentially, this means we work on stretching tight muscles that support the correct functioning of spiral chains and strengthen spiral muscle chains like the interscapular muscles, abdominal oblique muscles, and glutes. This can help with spinal traction and straightening of the scoliotic curve.

Spiral Stabilization prevents the need for scoliosis spinal fusion surgery and helps and prevents post-op complications for clients who have already undergone spinal surgery.

Back pain/lower back pain/sciatica

Muscle tightness or shortening, especially in the vertical muscle chains such as the paravertebral muscles along the spine and hip flexors, can cause joint flexion and incorrect posture. This, combined with muscle weakness, leads to muscle imbalances in the body, resulting in spinal and joint compression, which can cause back pain.

Spiral Stabilization exercises aim to eliminate these muscle imbalances. Each exercise focuses on stretching tight muscles and strengthening weak ones. By strengthening the spiral muscle chains, including the abdominal muscles, back muscles between the shoulder blades, and glutes, natural spinal traction and decompression are created. This helps to regenerate the spine, alleviate pressure on the intervertebral discs and joints, and relieve back pain, nerve pain, and chronic back pain.

Spiral Stabilization has also been found to be effective in treating ankylosing spondylitis.

Chronic neck and shoulder pain/ headache

Spiral Stabilization exercises help to address muscle imbalances in the body by stretching tight muscles and strengthening weak muscles. These exercises also help to elongate the spine, alleviate pressure on the intervertebral discs, and reduce neck pain. Additionally, the exercises can improve posture, align the body, correct shoulder position, and realign the head.

By achieving balance in the body, these exercises can reduce pain and gradually enhance shoulder mobility.
